Articulate Storyline

Preventing Shoplifting at the Jewelry Counter – eLearning Challenge

This project was created for the January 2025 Tim Slade eLearning Challenge. The interactive training module is designed to help jewelry store employees spot suspicious behavior, respond professionally, and protect store profitability.

Tools Used:

  • Articulate Storyline – Interactive scenarios, branching logic, and AI-generated questions

  • Vyond & HeyGen – AI avatars and animated video content

  • Kaiber & Canva – Visual enhancements and motion graphics

  • JavaScript – Custom certificate generation with user names

The training includes scenario-based decision-making, AI voice narration, and a personalized certificate of completion. This project demonstrates the use of multimedia storytelling and instructional design strategies for loss prevention training.

Embracing AI-Powered Lesson Design

I created a microlearning module that teaches educators to use the PREPARE framework for crafting effective AI-assisted lesson planning prompts, aligning with the Modern Classrooms Project's teaching methodologies.

  • Audience: Educators

  • Responsibilities: All aspects of the project, from concept to final product.

    • This includes storyboarding, video creation, curating resources, creating Iorad tutorials, scriptwriting, and participating in stakeholder meetings.

  • Tools Used: D-ID, Canva, Eleven Labs, Articulate Storyline 360, Iorad, Leonardo AI images, and ChatGPT were all employed in this project.

Identifying Gaps

In October 2023, during my time in Devlin Peck's Instructional Design Bootcamp, I developed a drag-and-drop activity in Articulate Storyline to deepen my own understanding of various learning and performance gaps: skills, knowledge, motivation, communication, and environment. Successfully categorizing each gap with a confirming crinkle sound, this tool not only reinforced my learning but also engaged learners in practical gap analysis, making the abstract concepts tangible and memorable.

Videos

Tackling the challenge of introducing Metaverse technologies to education, I developed a project for a Spring 2024 class at NMSU to guide Instructional Designers and stakeholders on integrating VR/AR into their teaching.

  • Audience: Educators, Instructional Designers, and stakeholders exploring Metaverse applications in learning

  • Role: Managed the full spectrum of content creation, from initial storyboards to the finished video

  • Tools: Utilized ChatGPT for script development, Leonardo AI for imagery, Eleven Labs for audio, and Pictory for video editing

In June 2023, I co-presented at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference, focusing on using AI for scriptwriting, voice integration, and animations in video creation to engage students. These tools were instrumental in introducing the lesson concepts. I expanded on this for the 2024 ISTE conference by integrating an AI chatbot into my teacher's website, enhancing learner support outside of classroom hours. The Canva resources used in my 2023 presentation are available above this post, providing valuable materials and examples for educators looking to incorporate similar techniques.
